The Municipal Recreation Fund is an annual program set up to provide financial assistance for the community. It supports children and adults in need of financial assistance for participating in recreation activities. The Municipality works with the Meaford Food Bank & Outreach to run this program.
Eligible Expenses & Activities
Location: Programs in Meaford or neighbouring communities (Owen Sound, Thornbury, Chatsworth, etc.).
Eligible expenses for the program include the cost of registration and equipment.
Activities
- Sports: Hockey, Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, Tennis, Volleyball, etc.
- Outdoor & Fitness: Swimming, Biking, Yoga, Martial Arts, Fitness Memberships.
- Creative & Educational: Art/Drama Programs, Dance, Cooking Classes.
- Community Programs: Scouts, Girl Guides, Summer Camps.

Program Requirements
The Municipal Recreation Fund uses household income to determine if an individual or family is eligible.
- Must be 18 and under
- Residency: Live in the Municipality of Meaford.
- Income: Follows Revenue Canada’s Low Income Cut-offs (LICOs) with an additional $50,000.
- Proof: Income verification may be requested.

Financial Details
- Families contribute 20% of the cost or a minimum of $25.
- Children: Multiple activities up to $500 per child per year.
- Adults: Multiple activities up to $200 per adult per year.
Funding is subject to the discretion of Meaford Food Bank & Outreach and availability.
