We have not received any special event requests asking for this yet, but this timeline will still work based on the timing that a special event application is supposed to be submitted to us in advance of any event.

    FAQ

Community well-being can carry a different meaning for everyone, which is why it can seem a bit complicated. Overall, there are a number of factors that can impact our sense of safety, health, and happiness as individuals, and as a community. Our well-being can be impacted by any number of things, including:

    • The food we eat
    • Where we work
    • Our education
    • Our race or ethnicity
    • Our level of access to housing or health services

The Municipality of Meaford is the only Municipality in all of Grey and Bruce counties that is not directly participating in the Bruce-Grey Joint County Plan.

After considering whether to participate in the joint Plan or to implement a local one, Council voted in favour of developing the latter for the Municipality of Meaford. This will allow us to:

    • Achieve positive outcomes localized specifically to our community
    • Increase focus across the entire geographic area (recognizing that issues can differ between Bognor, Annan, rural areas, and the urban area of Meaford)
    • Strengthen partnerships in our own community

Even though the responsibility for developing a plan falls with municipalities, Meaford’s approach emphasizes a multi-sectoral partnership. For this reason, we are forming the plan under The Well-Being Partnership.

The Partnership includes community leaders from sectors such as:

    • Healthcare
    • Emergency services
    • Local government
    • Police and community policing committees
    • Child and youth social services
    • Community services
    • Education

A local plan will need to rely on community leaders, practitioners, and residents to create something that’s truly representative of our community’s wants and needs.

The plan will work to improve well-being in our municipality, and, over time, implement “up-stream” activities as methods of early crime prevention. We won’t know exactly what this looks like until we hear from residents on what changes can be made to better the community for everyone.

Once we have identified the risks through community feedback, we will begin to implement measurable strategies to address these issues. This could include improved programming, additional multi-sectoral partnerships, and more.

We understand that everyone’s struggles and experiences are unique, which is why we would love to hear from you on what can be done to enhance community well-being!

The public consultation period for the Plan’s development has concluded as of May 2021. However, there are still plenty of ways to stay involved in the process:

    • Send in a submission to wellbeing@meaford.ca
    • Invite the Well-Being Partnership to your community group, service club, business or local agency.
  • Summer Camps

Fill your child’s summer with adventures, discoveries, new friendships, and a whole lot of fun. The municipality offers an exciting lineup of activities for kids ages 6-13, designed to spark curiosity and creativity. Whether your young one is a sports fan, nature lover or budding movie buff, there is something here for everyone.

The municipality reserves the right to reassign campsites with one week’s notice for operational needs. Campers must properly dispose of all garbage and recycling, as failure to do so will result in a $25 cleanup fee. Outside firewood is not permitted in the park. Trailer parking is only allowed in two designated areas where trailers may be arranged in a circle. This setup is prohibited in all other parts of the campground, and trailers must remain on designated lanes and parking strips.

Pets are welcome and must be on a leash except for in designated off-leash areas at the beach. The off leash dog park is a short walk away – link to map.

Be a good neighbour – with private residents living on both sides of the park, please be mindful and do not trespass.

Prime time camping includes the last full weekend of June to the Tuesday after Labour Day, as well as Victoria Day and Thanksgiving weekends.

Waterfront site reservations open on January 1st at 9:00 a.m. for that calendar year. Requests made before this date will not be considered. During prime times, these sites require a minimum one-week stay and a maximum of two weeks, with arrival and departure on Fridays. In June and September, a four-night minimum stay is required. Any unreserved waterfront sites during prime time will be available for shorter stays, with a minimum two-night reservation. These will be assigned on Saturdays at 12:00 p.m., with priority given  to longer stays.

Off-water and upper campground sites can be reserved at any time for the following camping season. Premium and lower off-water sites require a minimum four-night stay during prime season, which runs from the last full weekend of June to Labour Day. There are no minimum stay requirements during the shoulder season.

On long weekends, all campsites require a minimum three-night reservation. During the Civic Holiday weekend, sites 40 to 143 will not be available for public use due to the Kin Camp Event. Group reservations for multiple sites, made by one representative, will be held for 14 days. Within this period, each group member must confirm their individual reservation and submit full payment.

Full payment is required at the time of booking. For pre-season reservations, payment must be made by credit card upon confirmation. In-season reservations also require full payment at the time of booking. Failure to submit payment will result in cancellation.
