Statement from the Municipality of Meaford and Mayor Ross Kentner

The Municipality of Meaford offers its deepest condolences to the community of Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, following the tragic events that have shaken their community. Our hearts go out to the families who are grieving, to those who have been impacted, and to everyone in Tumbler Ridge as they face this profound loss.

As a gesture of solidarity and remembrance, municipal flags in Meaford will be lowered to half‑mast on February 11 and 12, 2026.

We stand with the people of Tumbler Ridge during this incredibly difficult time. As communities across the country come together in support, we join them in holding space for reflection, compassion, and collective care.
