Fire Risk Increased to Moderate

Notice: Fire Risk Increased to Moderate

July 30, 2025

Effective today, the fire risk level in our area has increased from low to moderate.

Due to the recent dry weather and no rain in the forecast, conditions are more favorable for fires to start and spread. The Municipality of Meaford and the Meaford Fire Department are reminding residents to be extra cautious when conducting any open-air burning.

A fire risk gauge showing a Moderate Risk level. The semi-circle gauge is colored yellow from 0 to 2, with the needle pointing at 2. The label "Risk Level" appears below, with numbers ranging from 0 to 5.

If you are burning:

  • Never leave your fire unattended.

  • Have water, tools, or another means of extinguishment on hand.

  • Fully extinguish your fire before leaving the area.

The fire risk level may change based on weather conditions. Residents are asked to check the current status before starting a burn.

If you have an emergency, call 911.

Your care and attention help keep our community safe.
