Notice of High Burn Risk

Effective today on 14 July 2026, the fire risk level in the Municipality of Meaford has increased to High Risk due to continued dry weather conditions.

At the High Risk level, fire pits and outdoor fireplaces are still permitted, however extreme caution must be used for all large open-air burning activities, including bonfires, brush fires, controlled fires, and demolition fires.

The Municipality of Meaford and the Meaford Fire Department are reminding residents to burn responsibly and check fire risk levels before burning, as conditions can change quickly during periods of dry weather.

If you are burning:

  • Never leave your fire unattended.
  • Have water, tools, or another means of extinguishment readily available.
  • Fully extinguish your fire before leaving the area.
  • Use extreme caution and be aware of changing weather conditions.

If you have an emergency, call 911.

Your care and attention help keep our community safe.
