Municipality of Meaford Welcomes Dieter Weltz as Chief Building Official

The Municipality of Meaford is pleased to announce the appointment of Dieter Weltz as Chief Building Official, effective February 23, 2026.

“I amvery pleased to welcome Dieter to Meaford. This hire strengthens our Building Department at a time when development is a clear priority for this Council and for the province. As we work toward supporting attainable housing, managing continued growth, and maintaining the safety of our community, Dieter’s leadership will be essential to ensuring our building services remain responsive, efficient, and aligned with community needs,”said Mayor Ross Kentner.

Weltz joins Meaford with a strong background in municipal building oversight. With 20 years of experience in the building sector that includes thirteen years as a Municipal Building Official, nine of which serving as a Chief Building Official and holding certification as a Certified Building Code Official through the Ontario Building Officials Association and Red Seal Carpenter designation. His experience includes enforcing building code compliance, zoning by-laws, property standards, and public safety requirements, ensuring structures meet standards in areas such as health, fire protection, and structural integrity.

“We are pleased to welcome Dieter to our team,” said Shawn Everitt, Chief Administrative Officer. “With more than 20 years of experience in the building industry and extensive expertise enforcing the Ontario Building Code, Dieter will play a vital role in ensuring public safety, supporting development, and strengthening our building services.”

“I look forward to building strong relationships with local builders, contractors, developers, and, most importantly, the residents of the Municipality of Meaford, while continuing to strengthen the connections I have developed throughout my career,” said Dieter Weltz, incoming Chief Building Official. “With hands-on experience in construction and the skilled trades, along with my background as a Building Official, I bring both practical and regulatory knowledge to the role. This experience allows me to deliver professional, efficient, and streamlined services while ensuring compliance with Provincial standards and regulations.It is an honour to serve as Chief Building Official for the Municipality of Meaford, and I take great pride in supporting the community in this capacity.”

The Municipality of Meaford looks forward to welcoming Dieter to the organization on February 23rd.
