Meaford Wants Your Feedback on a New Community Benefits Agreement By-law

The Municipality of Meaford is asking for input from residents, community groups, and local businesses on a new Community Benefits Agreement By-law. This by-law would set rules for big projects that aren’t covered by the Planning Act. It is meant to help Meaford and its residents understand how these projects could affect the community.

On March 24, 2025, staff presented the proposed by-law and started a 30-day period for public feedback. This by-law is especially important for large projects like the proposed Pumped Storage Project, but it would also apply to other developments in the future.

To ensure broad participation, we are also reaching out directly to community groups to encourage their feedback and ensure their voices are heard.

Key Dates:

  • March 24, 2025: Staff Report presented to Council

  • March 24 – April 21, 2025: Community engagement and feedback period

  • April 10, 2025: Pumped Storage Advisory Committee (PSAC) meeting to discuss the by-law

  • April 28, 2025: Final staff report, including community feedback, presented to Council

Residents and community groups are encouraged to review the proposed by-law and share their thoughts by emailing communitybenefitsbylaw@meaford.ca.

The Pumped Storage Advisory Committee will discuss the by-law at their April 10, 2025, meeting. Members can share feedback during the meeting, and additional comments can be sent by email until April 21, 2025.

Your input will help shape policies that support our growing community. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
