Meaford Issues Conserve Water Notice Following Power Failure at Water Treatment Plant

The Municipality of Meaford is asking residents to conserve water following a power outage at the water treatment plant just after 5:10 a.m. this morning, Sunday, June 14. Although electricity has been restored, the plant’s power did not turn on the way it should have. As a result, the system is not working normally right now, and electricians are on site working to get everything back up and running. In the meantime, residents are asked to limit water use until further notice.

Residents can help reduce demand on the system by taking the following steps:

  • Delay laundry, dishwashing, and other non-essential water use.
  • Take shorter showers and avoid filling bathtubs.
  • Turn off taps while brushing teeth or shaving.
  • Postpone outdoor watering, car washing, and other outdoor water use.
  • Run dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads, if use cannot be delayed.
