2016 Budget Update

Meaford, Ontario – December 8, 2015 – As part of the 2016 Draft Budget Process a meeting was held in the Bognor Community Centre on December 7, 2015. Mayor Clumpus opened the meeting by providing clarification regarding misinformation on the 2016 budget. Her remarks can be seen in the Mayor's Corner.

At the next council meeting on Monday, December 14, 2015 the Council of the Municipality of Meaford will be provided with the final budget for approval for the 2016 year.

As the chart below demonstrates, the current recommended tax levy increase for 2016 is set at 1.943%.

On the average assessed home in the Municipality of Meaford, 1.943% is approximately an additional $37.92 per year. As the chart below indicates, when combined with Grey County and education tax rates, the increase in 2016 on the average assessment will be $55.85.

    We have recently had some instance of garbage bag tags being ripped in half, and both halves being placed on two separate garbage bags. Garbage will only be collected if a complete bag tag is present on all waste bags, and by-law enforcement will be contacted if necessary.
