Economic Development

The Advisory Committee is a collaborative forum for discussion of economic development ideas, opportunities, and matters of common interest in the Municipality of Meaford.

Required: up to 4 from the following individual sectors:

  • agribusiness
  • tourism/hospitality
  • commercial/industrial
  • real estate/development

Meetings: 6 times per year (2nd Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.)


Meaford Public Library

The Board sets policies that guide the administration of the library and ensure that the unique needs for library services in the community are met. Library Board Trustees align themselves with the vision and mission of the Meaford Public Library. Experience and knowledge in the fields of finance, legal and fundraising are considered an asset.

Required: up to 1 member prepared for 5-6 hours a month

Meetings: 10 times per year (3rd Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.)


Committee of Adjustment

The Committee reviews applications for consents and zoning minor variances.

Required: 1 individual with experience pertaining to one or more of the following: planning, law, and geography

Meetings: approximately 8 times per year (4th Thursday at 4:00 p.m.)


Meaford Museum

The Advisory Committee is to advise and assist staff and Council on matters relating to the Meaford Museum, specifically its collection, programs and services.

Required: up to 2 individuals

Meetings: 6 times per year (4th Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.)


Business Improvement Area

The BIA was designated in 1978 by the former Town of Meaford. Appointment to the Board of Management is reserved to assessed property owners or tenants.

Required: up to 1 person

Meetings: bi-monthly (3rd Wednesday at 8:00 a.m.)


General Requirements for all appointments:

  • Must sign the Code of Conduct
  • Canadian citizen; 18+ years of age
  • Eligible elector of the Municipality
  • Must not be employed by the Municipality of Meaford
  • Volunteer position, therefore no remuneration
